Challenge
About the Program:
Developed by a team
of retired teachers,this
jeopardy-style
trivia game
has won an award from the Ontario Museums Association for
programming excellence.
Participants
are grade 7 and 8
students
who are challenged to demonstrate
their knowledge about Canada, its history, current events,
environment, and much more. Schools choose eight students to
participate at the school level. The winning student from each
school competes in the finals held at the Museum School on the first
Monday of Education Week.

Spelling Bee
This program will not be offered in 2009
About the Program:
Developed from the
format of spelling bees of the past, this junior level outreach
program begins with a classroom spelling test. The top three
students from each class participate in a traditional verbal
spelling bee at the school level. The winning students from
different schools compete in the finals at the Museum School during
Education Week.

Edu-Kits
About the Program:
Teachers will
benefit from using Edu-Kits in their classroom to supplement or
enhance Museum School programs. Kits are filled with interesting
research, hands-on materials, activity ideas, and helpful resources.
Early School Kit
contains: model log school, slates and slate pencils, information
and books related to early schools, and activity suggestions.
Writing Kit
contains: slates and slate pencils, quill and straight pens, ink,
and writing guide.
